Claim the Grid

A head-to-head board game: answer right to claim a square, and line up four before your opponent.

Players: 2Ages 7+15 minNeeds 9+ pairs

What you need

  • The board
  • The numbered question cards, face down in number order
  • Ten markers of each color (cut out), or coins and buttons

How to play

  1. Choose who goes first. On your turn, pick a square that nobody has claimed.
  2. Your opponent reads the question card with that square's number.
  3. Answer right and put your marker on the square. Answer wrong and the square stays open.
  4. Claim four squares in a row, across, down or corner to corner, to win. If every square is claimed without a row, the player with more squares wins.

Make it easier or harder

  • Play in two teams: the team talks before answering.
  • Three in a row on the small board for younger players.
