A family creed for new parents
New parents rarely have time to write anything, which is exactly why a creed helps: it is a decision made once, on a calm day, that you can lean on at 3 a.m. This example comes from the values new parents pick most often. Patience sits near the top for obvious reasons, gratitude because the first year goes fast, and the bear because it is the heraldic picture of fierce, gentle protection. The baby occasion adds a line welcoming the newest member, and the creed is written in the warm tone so it reads well framed above a crib.
The creed
This is who we are:
We love each other out loud, every single day.
We're patient, because good things take time.
We are kind, especially when it's hard.
We count our blessings out loud, often.
Our home is full of laughter and music.
We read together before bed.
When things get hard, we take a breath and slow down.
We welcome our new baby into a family full of love.
One day, we hope people will say: they were loving and kind, and they loved each other.
Wherever we go, we go together.

Values in this creed
Talk about it together
- How do you know someone in this family loves you, without them saying it?
- What is one small thing we do for each other that we should never stop doing?
- Who in our family is the most patient? How do they do it?
- When do you run out of patience fastest?
