How to make a 3D logo from a flat logo, step by step

Published 2026-10-25

A 3D version of a logo used to mean a 3D artist, Blender and an afternoon. For the most popular looks (chrome, gold, marble, glass and neon), it now takes a couple of minutes in a browser. Here's the whole process with Logo Sculptor.

1. Get the right file

The cleaner the file, the cleaner the 3D. In order of preference:

  1. SVG: a vector file, the best option.
  2. PNG with a transparent background: very good.
  3. PNG or JPG on a plain white or single-colour background: fine. The background colour is detected and removed.

Avoid photos of a logo on a sign or a shirt, screenshots with other things around the logo, and tiny favicons. See how to prepare your logo file for where to find these files.

2. Add it and confirm it's yours

Open Logo Sculptor and choose your file. The page asks you to confirm you own the logo or have permission to use it: logos are trademarks. Then it traces the outline of every shape, keeping holes such as the middle of an "O", and builds a 3D model. All of this happens in your browser; the logo isn't uploaded.

3. Pick a style

  • Chrome: a mirror finish with moving reflections. Bold and modern.
  • Gold: warm, heavy and premium.
  • Marble: white stone with grey veins, like a sculpture.
  • Glass: clear and refractive, bending a colourful background.
  • Neon: glowing tubes along the outline on a dark wall.
  • Your colours: your logo's own colours as glossy, layered plastic.

4. Shape it

  • Depth: how thick the logo is. Deeper looks heavier.
  • Bevel: the rounded edge. Metals and glass need some, because that's where the highlights are. Set it to zero for crisp, flat-edged shapes.
  • Motion: Sway, Spin, Float or Still.

5. Export

  • Video loop: 3, 5 or 8 seconds, square, vertical or wide. It loops seamlessly.
  • PNG: 2048 pixels, with a transparent background if you tick that box.
  • GLB: the 3D model with its material, for websites, AR, presentations and 3D apps.
  • STL: the model for 3D printing, 60 mm along its longest side.

Videos and PNGs carry a small "made with Logo Sculptor" mark by default; untick the box to leave it off.

My logo came out lumpy or with missing parts. Why?

Low-resolution PNGs and JPGs with soft or noisy edges trace less cleanly. Use the largest version you have, or an SVG. Very thin hairlines can also vanish at small sizes.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, on recent phones. Rendering a 1080p video takes a little longer than on a computer; 720p is faster.
