Myth check
Was Quibi too early for short-form premium video?
Not a timing failure since 2026-10-25 · ledger #55
Free short video boomed in the same months.
Short answer
Quibi raised about $1.75B, launched paid, phone-only short shows in April 2020 and shut down in December 2020. In the same months free short video on TikTok and YouTube grew fast. Mobile video, bandwidth and demand all existed; a paid, unshareable, Hollywood-cost version of it was wrong at any date.
